Exclamation A new combat system for GW2?

Does anyone know if the combat system will be changed for GW2. Right now, You have to be standing still in order to attack or cast spells, so my question is "Will we be able to attack and cast spells while moving around?" And please feel free to state your opinion on this type of combat system.

Spell Casting- No, Would Make Casters unfairly buffed.

Melee- Maybe, but if that were to happen, it would be like WoW where you have to be facing the opponent. I perfer the way it is now.

Ranged- HaHA funny... No that wouldn't happen. If it did, then we'd all have to add the prefix Legolas the- and that would never end well...

I personally found the combat in Wow a lot more fluid (if that makes any sense at all), i felt like I had much more control over my character than in Guild wars.

Oh and also Insti-cast spells should be able to be cast on the run - I have not played a mage like character so i dont even know if they do have insti cast spells lol

LOL Legolas now that would be funny....

Although WoW's Combat system was more "fluid" (?), I find that GWs combat system is Simple and Efficent. I don't like having to constantly be turning and moving the camera around, just to hit the enemy...

And yes, I am funny, thank you for noticing

Ya, i agree with you guys. Some people like GW's combat system and some people don't. I can see that GW makes it rpg-like where you point and click on the enemy and watch your character animate whereas some games are more arcadeic by needing to face the enemy or you miss.
It's true that casters can just run from warriors while they cast, but I think those crippling moves and such balance that out. Still, I do understand why archers and casters should be kept still, but could melee at least be allowed to do while moving? I mean, we're gonna be able to "jump," so why not? =)

casters will definatly be able to cast while moving. the article in PCgamer said that different skills (including spells) might have different affects depending on if your jumping or moving.

Actually, I believe you can already do that, just on a smaller scale. Example: Warroior attacks Monk. Monk Naturally Runs. Warrior Follow, and every time the monk makes an error (e.g. Turning) the Warrior will catch up to the monk and hit the Monk, but still follow and continue the cycle.

Now if there was some sort of Movement nerf while casting (e.g. You move 33% slower while Casting a spell..) Then that would be pretty cool of an effect, and I would be happy to have this implement.

As far as Rangers go, There is no way a Ranger would be able to move while shooting, because if you think about it there has never been a Fairy tale Ranger that could shoot ACCURATELY while moving. I just think it would be more of an annoyance than a better system. Otherwise Rangers could just equip a longbow, throw on Dash, and use some damage attacks to kill a Warrior or Dervish...

Now this is interesting, maybe they are going to add spells that are movement specific. Like you have to be moving to use this spell, or something to that extent. Either way, it's kind of an odd idea...

Personally i only ever really pvped with melee in wow and never had a problem facing a character, this is because you can actually target and start hitting while moving around a character. I just would right click an enemy, then hold it down, you use the wasd keys to move (with right click down 'a and d' would strafe and u just use the movement of the mouse to change directions) with the right mouse button held down whichever way ur character turned the camera angle would stay directly behind all the time automatically. All it involved was a change to the interface settings.

Ya, well if you're chasing someone it does do attacks, but once you push a direction key, your attack halts unless you re-click on your target again.

A movement reduction sounds like a nice idea. I was thinking maybe spells that only take a second or less to cast would be the ones allowed while running. Long casting things like Meteor Shower would have balanced reduced speed, like you said.

Rangers shooting and running would be awkward since it's like having auto aim lol. Perhaps give that profession a crosshair, like maybe for only first-person view? Maybe only auto aim when you're not moving? I mean this new combat system doesn't have to apply to all characters. Still have some of the old, but new for certain professions?

As we don't know the answer to this till more information is released concerning GW2 - anything said concerning this subject is speculation. Also, this isn't the place for either comparison's between GW and other online games, nor the place for suggestions (if you have suggestion's, use the suggestion forum).
